Since the University of Texas picked up its second loss a week or so ago, I really had lost any "dog" in the Ohio State, Michigan "game of the century" this weekend. But obviously there were still plenty or others who were paying close attention.Treating my lovely bride to a day of wondering in and out of her favorite 5th Ave stores (Sax, Bendels, Berghdorfs) then to Madison Ave (Searle) I finally got to take her to dinner. Dos Caminos in Soho - best mexican fare in Manhattan. The rear wall of the restraunt had been converted into this massive television airing Ohio State v. Michigan. I tried explaining to the Lovely Bride all about why it was such a big game... Number 1 vs. 2, the conference, and state rivalry, even the death of Bo Shembechler... she wasn't that impressed. When we arrived the main dinner crush had not yet happened, but before we were to our main course the little two-some tables all around us began filling up. The couple that was seated next to us even lied about which team they were pulling for - just so that they could get seated more quickly.By the way - if you're ever there (corner of Houston and West Broadway) you have to order the freshly made to order guacamole, and if they have brisket quesadias on the menu - they are a must try also...Then we headed back uptown past the Empire State Building which was donned in red (for Ohio State) and yellow (for Michigan). Crazy...Our experience far surpassed however, poor Steve Brown's of the Fox News Channel, reporting live on the going's on outside the game, during the game, he actually had to body check a drunk girl to keep her from stumbling into his live shot...And of course the stupid, blonde, drunk chick was pulling for - Ohio State.
