Thank goodness the Senate can filibuster a piece of legislation for once. (It's gets weary watching that body abuse filibuster power on judicial nominees.)
Their ranks bolstered by the November elections, supporters of legislation boosting taxpayer-funded research on embryonic stem cells were poised Thursday to easily pass the bill again even though President Bush vetoed it last year.
The House was to pass the bill the third piece of the Democrats' first 100 hours agenda Thursday afternoon. But the vote was virtually certain to fall short of the two-thirds margin needed to override another Bush veto, vote counters on both sides of the issue said.
And for those of you educated in public schools and therefore deprived of most thinking skills, embryonic stem cells are 1) completely unsuccessful thus far in finding cures toward any diseases, 2) require the taking of innocent human life, and 3) completely unnecessary given the recent discovery that nearly identical undefined stem cells are available in ABUNDANCE in amniotic fluid - which require NO LOSS OF LIFE.
