I have to tell you the Dennis Prager - Keith Ellison debate has been one that has hyped up incredible volume. And I for one say - EXCELLENT! The column that started the whole thing is here. A nice summary of the case is made by this clip from Tucker Carlson:

"You're losing me a bit..."

What an odd confession by Tucker.

I disagree with fellow Townhallees Mary Katharine Ham and Michael Medved. Dennis main construct is that since this is a symbolic action, no one man should have the allowance to destroy what that symbolism is, means, and stands for.

He is 100% correct.

Dennis responded to his more hate-filled critics today...(and for the record those do not include MKH or Medved.)

Swearing into Office....
Kevin:
There is a ignorance prevalent in America today, people are ashamed to be American. And You are dead on target! This is an affrontery to the very Americans who died on 911. In any other country it would be seen for what it is-an insult to the American Government. It is saying in a nut shell:Islam is the ONLY TRUE religion...and outright lie. You are right about also Obama. I believe McCarthy was also right when he went after hollywood in the 50's, he for saw this day. As for the Purpose driven Church they are putting man before the truth!

Mr Ellison
Mr. Ellison must take his oath on the Bible. Our laws and traditions are based on the Bible. Our Founding Fathers focused on the Bible on all their decisions that would direct and guide our country. One person does not have the right or the law on his side to change the tradition of America and Americans. Beside all of this, he should do it out of respect for our great country and the people who voted him into office.

using our liberty as a weapon
This is just another example of how this violent ideology of Islam is using out liberties as a weapon against us. They are weaseling their way in bit by bit. The six imams on the plane, Ellison, and so forth. It is going to get to the point that the secret service will need to hold the bomb belt of terrorists as they wait in line to enter the White House.

And the liberal left, as well as the "enlightened" Politically Correct nuts, are fueling our demise by accepting this BS.

You are right, Kevin, as always, 100%.

Point of Order
Matthew 5:33-37

33 “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’ 34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

Perhaps if more of our leaders (and we ourselves) used the Bible for the wisdom within, rather than for a handrest during an empty oath, we'd live in a much better world.

A missed point
That I've described here:

http://theinterface.townhall.com/g/40da2dda-cf87-4522-ac0c-934ddd155b6e

Key idea: ...in a way to which other sacred writings do not conform, to allow someone to swear an oath of office with only a Koran is really allowing them to swear upon the quintessential symbol, the political constitution, if you will, of a theocracy that has vowed to overcome and to destroy virtually everything for which our Constitution stands. Fundamental Islam is by definition a merging of mosque and state, and it is a transnational state that has declared war on us.
