 "RIP"
Stupid, whack job, thugs with a motivation to place a hit, cut phone lines, shoot and run - kill NFL Defensive backs... And it was likely Taylor's inability to keep a gun at his residence that cost him his life...
The countdown is on until some liberal calls for a handgun ban from this tragedy...

Any needless loss of life is a problem. However, it is simply not a fact that elimination of handguns or "regular guns" does much to creat the safe environment that we seek. The crooks - still have guns and we do not. Look at DC, San Fran, etc, where the gun ban is in effect - still dangerous places in these great cities, |

We have run out of time on the illegal alien inundation. We either stop it now or we lose our country. Rudy won't do it. He thinks it's impossible to enforce our laws. I want someone who doesn't.
The GOP cedes their best issues by running Rudy. He agrees with Hillary on abortion, gays, guns, and amnesty. I want someone who doesn't.
America is worth saving. Vote conservative. |

the wrong tree ... the tragic shooting took place not in the District of Columbia, which does ban possession of handguns, but in Miami-Dade County, Florida, where not only are its residents allowed to own handguns, but are entitled to carry a concealed weapon on their person provided they apply for a permit, take the necessary instruction course, and are not otherwise forbidden from owning a gun (i.e., a convicted felon, or insane, or underage).
The shooting of this young man is a tragedy, but it is not an opportunity to get up on a soapbox and preach either for or against gun control. No law on earth can stop a determined assassin or thief or home-invader from harming you or your family, nor does the possession of a handgun automatically ward off all evil intent.
The tragedy in this case is that a young man was murdered in his own home, leaving a fatherless daughter. Young Mr. Taylor's lost life is not a political "moment". We can only hope the guilty killer will be found and punished, and that this young man's daughter is somehow given a good upbringing.

Taylor had been restricted by a court from keeping guns in his place of residence. |

You say, "Taylor had been restricted by a court from keeping guns in his place of residence."
I'm not sure but would this restriction have anything to do with this: "He was arrested in June 2005 on felony charges of waving a gun at people he believed had stolen his all-terrain vehicle. He later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault and battery." (as written in the story linked in your column)?
If so, then athingortwo's comment is still correct in that Taylor did something to warrant his not being allowed to keep a gun in his home.
Also, you say in your column "Stupid, whack job, thugs with a motivation to place a hit, CUT PHONE LINES, shoot and run " but when I read the news story that you link to, it says "He said Garcia called 911 on a cellphone. Sharpstein had said Monday that the house phone line had been cut, but on Tuesday clarified it, saying the house phone was not working, but the lines had not been cut." Following that paragraph is a Sharpstein quote that says "My instincts tell me this was NOT a murder or a HIT. It was certainly not professionally done in that two random shots were fired. One his leg. The other hit the wall." Certainly there will be more details coming out regarding this story but what you write in your column directly contradicts the story that you refer your readers to.
It appears to me that you are the one politicizing this tragedy and you are willing to either lie or ignore facts to make your point. Please take the advice that you gave athingortwo at 12:26.
