Yes thank you, no seriously, well maybe... ok - I am the Messiah! First of all... this article from yesterday's WashingtonPost is truly, strangely odd in the fact that in "describing Obama's 'journey' of faith" there is not a single mention of the man whose teaching he sat under for over 20 years - Jeremiah Wright. Noticeably - deficiently - odd! Secondarily I am sick of the "stop calling a Mooslim, I'm not a Mooslim" component to his discussion of faith. Nobody I've spoken to in the last six months thinks he is one and this canard is getting tired. (If he was for example he could be punished for shaving his facial hair, and his wife could be stoned for donning her bathing suit when they are on vacation in the Bahamas.) Third... He is picking up cues as to what he's "supposed to say" around "evangelicals." I'm starting to believe that his behind closed doors meet-up with Franklin Graham and others a week or so ago could have been as beneficial as it was uncomfortable. It certainly appears that he is beginning to fine tune (in other words completely overhaul/change) the language of his conversion to Christianity story. "In my own life, " he said, "it's been a journey that began decades ago on the South Side of Chicago, when, working as a community organizer, helping to build struggling neighborhoods, I let Jesus Christ into my life. I learned that my sins could be redeemed and that if I placed my trust in Christ, that he could set me on the path to eternal life when I submitted myself to his will and I dedicated myself to discovering his truth and carrying out his works."
He has added the "letting Jesus Christ into my life" part of the story... which was noticeably absent previously. He's also added the "place my trust" phraseology... and for good measure the "discovering his truth and carrying out his works." Theologians will note properly that one does not "let" Jesus into your life. At least not the way he describes it - like letting the dog in at night after its done it's business. It is God who PURSUES you, convicts you, and ultimately saves you. The other question I still have - as every real Christian also does (and yes I'm implying you're not a real believer otherwise) is how Obama measures the fruit of his actions, votes, decisions - against his proclaimed goal of "discovering his truth, and carrying out his works?" You know the works like re-engineering society to be formed on whatever unholy sexual unions the depraved brain can come up with. You know works - as it must say in scripture somewhere - that when a child is born, you force it to starve until it dies - as the "compassionate hope changer" Obama has voted for. Those kinds of works? Compatible with faith? Yes - the slick tongued Obama is learning the lingo, but you judge a man not by his words alone - but by the actions he carries out. And Obama's idea of "His" works - thus far don't seem to come close to measuring up to the text of His word!
So far, the best bet the Right has is to somehow make Obama look like a religious fanatic.
Oh, wait! We've already had a religious fanatic as our President. Sorry, I forgot.... |

If Evangelicals believe this is the answer; then it is much akin to putting a fire on your head out with a hammer! This is a dangerous plan, and the Left would be shocked at the number of us that agree with them on the reasons why this stance is not the way to go with faith-based charities. Federal government involved with charities, and the regulating of whom the churches can or cannot hire is more of what the American public is so extremely fed up with regarding too much entanglement in our private lives via the feds. This position on faith-based charities has nothing to do with religious fanaticism. It has everything to do with invasion of rights. What is most irritating about this Evangelical pandering is how we are being characterized if we questing Obama's affiliation with the Rev. Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Father Pflegger and others. The omission of Rev. Wright in all these stories has been most intriguing, and notice they also leave out the large sums of money Trinity United Church of Christ received from the federal government! If we as Evangelicals state our churches do not receive any money from the federal government, but instead depend on tithes from the congregation to perform charity work; well we are still labeled racists or ignorant or biased. If Evangelicals were so wound up over Mitt Romney being a Mormon then logic would dictate many of them would pause to thoroughly investigate Obama's religious background. How they process what they find would be an expression of individual perception or thought. I thought the Left was all about the right for individuals to express themselves no matter how offensive it might be to the opposite side of the aisle? I could be wrong. |

Obama's candidacy is his trustworthiness. He will not come clean on his past. I DO NOT TRUST Obama. |

Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance is a memoir by current United States Senator Barack Obama of Illinois. It was first published in 1995 after Obama was elected the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review, but before his political career began. The book was re-released in 2004 following Senator Obama's widely admired keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention (DNC); the 2004 edition includes a new introduction by Senator Obama as well as his DNC keynote address.
Below are some quotes for your review:
“I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.”
“I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.”
“There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.”
“It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names .”
“I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa, that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela.”
The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream is the second book written by US Senator Barack Obama. It was the number three bestseller on The New York Times nonfiction list as of October 2006. The book represents Obama's personal manifesto for his 2008 campaign for the presidency.
Another quote for your review.
“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

But what is a TYPICAL Politician to do?
Except CHANGE his position on...
1) The Iraq War (who needs the Extreme Lefty Youth Voters anyway)
2) Late-Term Abortion (understanding NARAL has no choice but to continue supporting him)
3) Welfare Reform (knowing the black vote will still be there)
4) Faith Based Intiative Programs (Embracing George W. Bush's policy!!)
5) Opting OUT of Publicly Financing his campaign (needing those BIG Business contacts)
The ONLY thing he has NOT CHANGED his position on (yet) is DRILLING. (and being in the pocket of Archer Daniels Midland, the Nations LARGEST Ethanol producer being one of those BIG BUSINESS contacts of example #5 he isn't likely to CHANGE this one).
Lets wait & see how he disses the Teachers' Union (school voucher programs perhaps?).
The LEFT is going to HOPE he'll CHANGE BACK someday...but even THEY don't know him well enough to say for sure that he will.
I've always said the Novice Senator from Illinois was ALL 'Smoke & Mirrors'...And like smoke his image just keeps CHANGING.
It is time for the Obamatrons to take a good look in the mirror.

You have provided the best quotes, especially the one about standing with the Muslims. The one thing I have believed from the bottom of my heart is that Obama may not be a card-carrying Muslim, but he is, at the very least, a Muslim sympathizer. Think about what this will bode for the U.S. in our further relations with the ME. If he stands with them and against the U.S., then we have come to full rot from within. Sad... |

Snopes.com dealt with the standing with the Muslims quote. It is taken badly out of context and altered. In context he is saying that if the US tries to lock up (or otherwise violate the civil liberties of them) muslims like we did Japanese citizens in WWII, then he will stand with them.
I fear Obama getting elected, don't get me wrong. Getting caught on crazy/dishonest smears will hurt us in the long run. |

"Theologians will note properly that one does not "let" Jesus into your life. At least not the way he describes it - like letting the dog in at night after its done it's business. It is God who PURSUES you, convicts you, and ultimately saves you." - KMC
"Behold I stand at the door and knock..." - Jesus
I'll go with what the Lord said, rather than Kevin's unnamed theologians. He can't save us without our first exercising faith (i.e. letting Him into your life). God loves everyone in the world, but those who do not willingly accept Jesus can't be saved. He doesn't force that on us. If he did, then there'd be a lot fewer problems in the world. |
