Richard Dawkins is supposed to be the Billy Graham of the new Evangelical Atheism.

Seriously?

LAME!

I saw this and...
was very disappointed in Bill O'Reilly for not taking more of a stand. I understood him to say that he wasn't sure that Jesus is God. Well, Jesus is God.

Know Him
To argue God's existence has not really accomplished much. I say this because no one can truly know something only by hearing about it. It isn't about religion it is about relationship. I can tell you about my parents or my pets who have passed away or my Lord and Savior, Jesus, who I love with all my heart but places in my heart where they now live are invisible to others unless the result of having known and experienced their love is directly reflected in my life. Unless you experience the relationship for yourself you can not know if it exists. I met Jesus through the Bible but I know Him by the Love I have received from Him through others. Love is given freely from the heart or it is not sincere. We were given Free-will because no one, not even God can make you love them. Believing in God means you open your heart to receive His Love. Jesus has never forced anyone to believe in Him...people have done horrible things in the Name of God. Just because someone says they are acting in the name of God does not mean it is from God. God is a good God all of the time and doesn't torment His creation. Most religions ask you to die or sacrifice in some way for your God but Christ laid down His life so that all people on Earth may have life. We don't have Heaven on Earth because we seperate from God. This world is only as loving and as caring as each individual person makes it. So we could have Heaven on Earth if every peson chose to care for and protect it not hate and destroy it. Religion divides but Love (unconditional love) knows no seperation.

The real enemy?
Atheists

I am not the least bit concerned about atheists. Unlike many self-proclaimed “Christians,” I have never had an Atheist try to tell me how to live my life or how to worship God.

In fact, I believe God put atheists among us for a good reason: they constantly challenge us and make us think. My faith in Christ is not threatened, confirmed nor denied by existence of Atheists.

By the way.....

1. It wasn’t Atheists (or agnostics, or secular humanists) who dragged Christ before Pontius Pilate on trumped up charges and demanded his execution. That was done by self-proclaimed men of God.

2. It wasn’t Atheists (or agnostics, or secular humanists) who refused three separate opportunities to spare the life of Christ. That was done by self-proclaimed men of God.

3. It wasn’t Atheists (or agnostics, or secular humanists) who spat upon Christ and mocked him as he dragged his cross to Golgotha and died. That was done by self-proclaimed men of God.

And, finally, I don’t know of one single war, Crusade or Inquisition that was motivated by Atheists (or agnostic, or secular humanist). All of the whole-scale slaughters of innocents in the history of the planet has been done by some distorted “God’s name.”

I think God might just love the Atheists, Agnostics and SH’s just a bit more than us believers.

MellorSJ-Lame?
Yes. Your post is very lame. It's called FAITH, genius. With your IQ of 7 no wonder you believe in Big Bang and other ignorant garbage. Have you ever read anything by Darwin? He was a believer himself. His discoveries didn't make him atheist. Maybe because he saw more holes in his theory than substance?

Moustache Determinism

Orielly really was out of his depth here. Pitching softballs and setting up straw men for Dawkins.

However, I really got a kick out of Dawkins’ observation that Stalin and Hitler both had moustaches. There must be something to this.

Apparently, Dawkins would have you believe that your behavior toward other humans is no more dependent on your god than on your moustache.

When you say you are an Atheist, what does that mean exactly? If there is no Being Superior to you, then you are the Supreme Being. Right? Therefore, you are not an A-Theiest at all, you are a Me-Theist. If you join with others in believing that your collective is supreme then you are a We-Theist. Either way you are a Believer in a Supreme Being.

If you are the “Law Giver”, the Arbiter of Right/Wrong, Just/Unjust, Good/Bad, then you are the Supreme Being, the Ultimate Concern, in a word: God.

If you Believe that there is no being superior to you, then in addition to being God you are also a believer. If your decisions factor in this Belief then Me-Theism is your Religion. You are a Religious Believer. If you believe that the thought you are thinking is the result of purely random collisions of atoms then you believe in miracles. You are a true religious believer and what’s worse, one that believes in miracles. Remember that the next time you look down your nose at a fellow religionist.

As an aside, it must be pointed out that Right/Wrong, Just/Unjust and Good/Bad are all abstract nouns. In a purely physical/Secular universe, abstract nouns can not exist. All Abstractions are figments of the chemical reactions in your brain, illusions. As an Atheist/Secularist, those who proscribe the existence of a transcendent/Abstract supreme being, should not use abstract nouns in their speech, but they do. Why? Starting today, never think an abstract thought or use an abstract word.

Atheism is not a belief in No god, rather, Atheism is a belief in a different god. A different Law Giver, a different superior being who decides the status and worthiness of humans and other lesser beings.

Not all self appointed supreme beings are killers, slavers and thieves like Hitler/Stalin. But all killers, slavers and thieves are self appointed supreme beings.

Supreme beings get to decide what a human being is. How you define “Human Being” determines what you can do TO a human being.

Even worse, to a secular god, killing, slaving and thieving are impossible. Since your body, the only real part, is nothing more than a collection of atoms, "Killing" a person is nothing more than rearranging his atoms.

The same is true for slaving and thieving. The universe, and everything in it, is nothing more than atoms in a constant state of flux. Since atoms are in flux, accidental collisions within accidental collisions, and collections of particular atoms ( things ) are fleeting, there really is no such thing as a thing. Since there are no Things, there is no-thing to think about. Not to worry, the illusion of thinking is again, nothing but chemical reactions in the brain, atoms in a purely random flux.

Choosing to rearrange the atoms in the car that just cut me off in traffic is equal to choosing Not to rearrange them. Choosing itself is only just another illusion.

If the universe had no purpose at the beginning it has no purpose now. Purpose requires a Purpose-ER. Purpose is just another illusion of random collisions in your brain. If there can be no Purpose, what is the Purpose of your concern over what others believe. It will all be over soon enough and nothing anyone ever believed will matter. It will not matter in the future and it doesn’t matter now. Anything you believe or think will not count because nobody will be there to do the counting.

The only purpose that your Me-Theism can serve is that it comforts the random collisions in your brain to know that Supremacy is your reward now and Annihilation in the future. And like any religion, if it’s true for you and it comforts you, then it has served it’s purpose. ( Please excuse the abstract nouns ).

So, Is it really the same thing that being a self appointed supreme being is akin to having a moustache?

The Me-Theist true believers really should look for a more articulate evangelist, or at least one with a really cool moustache. http://www.anecdotage.com/pics/moustache.jpg

Thank you
That was brilliant...I like the random collisions of atoms in your brain. No sarcasm intended...interesting point.
